In The Theater Of Your Mind.....
Within The Deepest Chambers Of Your Heart.....
As victims of abuse, women or men, what often passes through our minds? What do we see when we look at our abuser? What influences and rules our days? More importantly, what do we see within ourselves?
You see a thousand pictures in one day, some clear, others muted or foggy, but they are there,day in, day out, flooding our brains with anger, fear, hurt, confusion, and hopelessness.
Are there any real parts of us left? Or are we just a piece of what we once were?
Sometimes, it's as if we have no room to really think, our brains seem to swell against our skull until it feels like we will explode. We are so inundated with the pictures and words that flash through our minds, that the horror plays itself over and over again like some endless nightmare. In the theater of our minds, it is often relentless, giving us no peace. In the deepest chambers of our hearts we wonder, where do we go? What do we do? Who can we talk to? Can we ever be free? The answer is YES !
The art on this page is my own interpretation of the mental and emotional upheaval abuse victims live with. Some of the art depicts not only the emotional, but the physical as well. The background itself was designed for a purpose. For me, it represents what I was inside.....tied in knots, things all out of place....nothing as it should be. Thanks be to God, I can say that is changing for the better on a daily basis :o)
